Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 3, 2026
The short version: we collect what's needed to run a comic platform with accounts, we don't sell your data, and we don't run ads or track you across the web.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and a securely hashed password (handled by our auth provider — we never see the password itself).
- Profile: your handle, display name, bio, and avatar — whatever you choose to fill in.
- Things you do:series and chapters you publish, comments you post, series you bookmark, and your reading position (so “Continue” works).
- Reading analytics: which chapters get read. IP addresses are hashed before storage for de-duplication — we don't keep raw IPs with reads.
- Cookies: session cookies that keep you signed in. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How we use it
- Running the service: accounts, bookmarks, reading progress, comments.
- Creator stats: views, bookmark counts, and comment counts shown to creators for their own series.
- Curation: aggregate popularity helps decide what gets featured.
We don't sell your data, show ads, or share your information with third parties for their marketing.
What's public and what's private
- Public: your handle, display name, bio, avatar, published series, and comments.
- Private: your email address, bookmarks, and reading progress — visible only to you.
Where your data lives
Your choices
- Edit your profile anytime in Settings.
- Delete your own comments, and unpublish or delete your series — deleting a series removes its chapters, pages, and files.
- Want your account and data deleted entirely? Email contact@comik.app and we'll remove it within 30 days.
Children
Comik isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. Meaningful changes will be made visible rather than buried.
